We sold Mike Colby some property for development a few years ago which resulted in a very positive experience. We found Mike to be true to his word and very trustworthy. He did everything he committed to do, and then some; his development resulted in unforeseen land profiles on our remaining property which he later corrected at his expense. Mike is a very trustworthy and honorable individual.
Robert and Dale Gulley January 24, 2017 I love the way Mike is so professional in his workmanship and interaction with his clients. I highly recommend this company for all of your building and remodeling projects!
Gayle Talcott "Excellence and skill – these describe Mike and his crew. We had a difficult project, and they came up with creative solutions. They even worked tirelessly through 100+ degree heat to finish the job. Mike goes above and beyond to ensure a high quality product. He is a true craftsman. I recommend Mike Colby & Sons highly."

"To prospective clients of Colby and Sons,
Mike Colby, managing the construction firm of Colby and Sons, has built two custom homes for me and my wife. In 1985 he built a Cape Cod home in the Meadow Springs area, and in 2012 he built an Italian-villa type rambler on 2 acres in Badger Canyon. Trust was the key that convinced us to have Mike as our contractor for our first home, and most definitely the second. That trust was exhibited in several ways.
First, Mike knows how to perform quality construction to meet our needs. I provided the construction drawings for both homes, but Mike was instrumental in giving final input to obtain the features we wanted. He often provided ideas to both save construction costs and to implement improvements. Neither of us had walked through a full-size model of these plans so we sometimes had to revise our approach in the middle of construction. Mike always had great options to bring a paper concept to a perfect application. Being a skilled carpenter in his own right gave him insight into maximizing the utility of our drawings.
Another significant positive trust issue was Mike’s relationship with his subcontractors. He selected and worked with top craftsman in the TriCities. He communicated excellently with the sub’s and always applied just the proper amount of supervision. Our Badger Canyon home involved several new construction interfaces that Mike had minimal experience, for example a plumbing tie-in to an onsite water well, however he coordinated the proper support to ensure a quality job. Neither my wife nor I ever felt that we had to be on the job-site to ensure the proper material was installed or placed correctly; Mike did that, excellently.
Surprises – they always show up in during any construction, and most especially during a custom-build. And, as the buyer, I was always tweaking something to add an enhancement. Mike was on top of changing conditions and had solutions for us to consider up front. More importantly, Mike always maintained high business integrity associated with changes. We trusted him implicitly in keeping us within budget, timely notifying us of the impacts of my "ideas", and charging us accurately for scope additions or subtractions.
However, the best testimony I can provide is to answer the question: "Would you use Colby and Sons again for another project?" The answer to that is definitely, "Yes!" Mike made building a home, both times, one of the most enjoyable events of our lives. In addition to ending up with two beautiful homes, we established a growing friendship, and that is the greatest blessing of all."

"Mike was a gem to work with - it was a wonderful experience - one of the most exciting periods of our lives. Mike was extremely professional, responsible, responsive and insightful to work with. His fine craftsmanship is seen in every detail. The house was built on-budget and just the way we planned. When things did not go well or problems cropped up, Mike was there with solutions. We are very proud of this house - and equally proud of Mike Colby and Sons for the care and labor they put into it. And we gained a life-long friend in Mike. If we had to do it again, we would go with Mike!"
